If I were a.....

Teachers : A word cloud concept around the word Education with great terms such as degree, diploma, university, reading and more. Stock PhotoDuring my lower secondary schooldays (I think or primary schooldays....err...whatever..), I recall a teacher asking us to write an essay on "If I were....". English not being our first language, we tried our best to come up with the best narration we can think of. One can choose the be anything but you have to have a moral. At that time, I didn't know what "moral" was but I believe the teacher said something to the tone of "have a learning" for I don't think she used the word "moral"...hehehe...

A friend of mine wanted to be a 'cooker' i.e a chef! Yet another wanted to be "typewriter" aka typist. I can't recall who they were but I seriously doubt they are a cooker or typewriter now....seriously!
Old Typewriters : old typewriterAt that point in time, I wanted to be a teacher, I think. Up until I was in Form 5, I wanted to be a teacher and I had always played 'teacher, teacher' with my 'kampong' friends during my younger days. FYI, I did supplement my income after school with some tutoring on English & Math, really! Albeit a short stint of about a year, I think.
My aim to be a teacher was crushed as I did not fare well in my national language exam paper which was an entry prerequisite. My oversight to number my essay question cost me dearly. I repeated the subject and scored a credit the following year. But while I waited for the exam & then the result, I no longer wanted to be a teacher. WHY? What happened? Well...I am one always looking for challenges, and I don't think I would want to repeatedly teach the same subjects year in year out...it would be so darn boring and stale. And boy am I glad I did not become a teacher!
Having said that, as a sales leader I was often the coach, so I guess the 'teacher' in me never left. In retrospect, if I were a.....
  • TEACHER ~~~ my pupils (that was what we were called then...now it is student), would have difficulty finding me if I were to teach Primary 3 or 4.....we would be of similar height! Except for the clothing & appearance (Yes...I am 50 and proud of it so go eat your heart out!), you wouldn't know the difference! I will also have huge difficulty reaching for the black board! Hehehehe....
  • DENTIST ~~~ a special stool or chair or miniature stand is required or I would not be able to reach the patient's mouth. Alternatively, I can have tailored made low reclining chairs for my patients...hmmmm.... likewise I cannot be a surgeon for the same reasons....but I think I will do wonderful suturing as I was pretty good in cross-stitch and art...*snickering wickedly*
  •  Modern dental chairs in blue background Stock Photo - 13115538
  •  PILOT ~~~ had always fascinated me how a heavy loaded thing like that can fly. With so many gadgets in the plane, I would have trouble reaching out to them...luckily they have handbrakes and not leg brakes like Camry & some Mercedes, else...I doubt I can reach the pedals! Also, I will fail outright on their strict prerequisite requirements - height! (Duh, obviously!), eyesight (650 on both eyes...blind as a bat without my glasses), Physics ( now..what the heck is that??? LOL), etc. So what if I like to be chauffeured flown!!
  • ARCHITECT ~~~ the artistic flow in me with combination of Michelangelo (Italian, 1475 - 1564)
  •  The Creation of Adam   Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926, Spanish) and the likes of the architect who built St Basil's Cathedral in the Red Square...WOW....the world will not look the same ever again....

  •   CHEF ~~~ I dislike having to dice, cut, chop & blend food. So, not possible to be chef unless I bribe all levels to do all the menial stuffs for me. After all the bribing, am so broke therefore how to continue to pursue to be a chef? Even if I manage to be an executive chef, my sous chef, pastry chef and other chef will NEVER see eye-to-eye with me unless they are seated and me standing! Oh well....you get my drift.

  • TOUR GUIDE ~~~ LOVE traveling!!! So travel tour guide suits me just fine. Naaaahhh... With memory lapses these days, most likely I will tell my clients to 'google' for more info on certain historical places or even places of interest....hehehehehe...and if my clients are youngsters, most likely they will have to look after me instead!!! Hahahha...then I will be the guided guide!! Wooohoooo...
For those who don't know me and have been reading my recent blogs might think I have low self esteem as I seem to poke fun at myself all the time.....Well, if you think that way, then you are incorrect.

Frankly, I am full of confidence and so full of it I may seem cocky at times (hehehehe...). As Rocker57 always say "Have you ever been mellow" (referring to Olivia Newton John's song)... whatever it is I am definitely not bipolar! Crazy - YES! Nutty - YES! Eclectic - YES! Happy - YES! Blessed - YES! Bipolar - NO!!!

Well, enough said about me....how about u? If U were a .......

Com' on share your thoughts just so I know you enjoy reading my craps!! hehehehe.... Until next time...Be who you want to be, afterall...we only live once so waste not!

Living in the wrong era??!!??

Fancy cake with number 50 candles. Decorated with ribbons and star-shapes, in pastel tones on black background. Stock Photo - 4315791

5 months into 50 and I feel fabulous. Fitter than I was 5 years ago, eating healthier, exercising regularly and life is simply wonderful. No office politicking, no back stabbing and no brown nosing! I live my life just the way I feel like it and I have full support from my family, I can't ask for more, seriously. Living my dreams daily...isn't it wonderful & fabulous?

Just today, my daughter said..."mom, if there's no FB I dunno what you'd do"...She says she sees me on FB daily, which is true. I 'report to work' on FB daily when I don't travel. I enjoy reading what my friends posted on their walls. I also blog. To-date, my daughter and son say they think I am about the only parent they know of who blogs!! Well, as I mentioned, I do what I feel like it and I feel good. So, what gives???

Just a few weeks ago, my friend asked something to the tune of "Are we living in the wrong era?". Frankly, at this age and era, I seriously don't need a lot of things :
  • I don't need big screen TV because when I put on my lenses and don Rocker57's reading glasses, even my laptop is big screen TV!!
  • Teddy bear in glasses reads a book with pictures Stock Photo - 4158902
    Credits to 123rf.com
  • I don't always need to play online games because I get to play my favourite games from my smart phone as and when I feel like it!  And...its quite often which irate Rocker57! LOL
  • I don't need to write letters because I can reach my friends easily via SMS, Whatsapp, Viber and email. Except for the former, the rest are FREE!!! Landlines are even better, free calls within Malaysia and I can yak for hours!!! FYI, I used to write to my former boyfriend pages and pages...even the regular postman will sometimes comment "eh, minggu ini tak banyak cerita?"...meaning, "eh, this week not much to say?" based on the thickness of the letters....but it sure was fun waiting impatiently for the letters to arrive week on week....ahhh...those were the days.
  • Red mailbox with letter on a white 3d rendered image Stock Photo - 12464051
  • I don't need a radio because my iPhone plays the songs that I like, no commercials and annoying DJs. I can download the songs I want as and when I want to. And best of all, in MP3/4 version....super solid sounds. Love their company whenever I do my ironing...beats the loneliness.
  • Vintage radio . Isolated over white background. Stock Photo - 10000891
This was one of the type of radios I grew up with.
  • I don't need to spend money on greeting cards and postage because I can send e-cards, SMS, Whatsapp, Viber or even call their house phone...more personalized and immediate.
  • I don't have to go out if I feel too lazy/hot to eat out. Mc Donald's, Nando's, Chili's, Sarpino, Domino's & Pizza Hut Delivery are just a phone call away. Or my kids will pack food home...yup, lazy mommy!!!
  • I don't have to queue up at the banks to deposit, withdraw or transfer money. I can do all that at leisure and its just a few clicks away. Although I still don't trust the technology (spams, phising, hacking, etc) but I still do some internet banking whenever I need to albeit minimum transactions. On most occasions, we do it via ATM (Automated/Automatic Teller Machine, lest we forget what the acronym really stands for in say another 50 years).
  • I don't have to go out to run/jog in the park for I can safely work out from the comfort of home. Of course, I don't get to meet new friends but I think the lesser the 'bitching' the better my life is. Am happy with the friends I already have, so why trouble trouble unless trouble troubles you!
  •  Exercising At The Park : Woman walking cross country and trail in autumn forest
  • I don't need to spend money on developing films, my digital cameras and smartphones can save hundreds of pictures. And the best part of it, I can always delete the awful ones and keep the nice ones... Those days, every picture is precious because it is costly to have them printed. I recall my granddad having one of this camera. Now, I can even show it in movie/powerpoint/slide style, isn't it fantastic?
  • I don't need to drive to Penang for Char Kueh Teow or fly to Italy to savour my pizzas and pastas....or even to Paris for Foie Gras. Not that I eat Foie Gras anyway but you get my drift. Everything is just a short drive away....globalizaation, borderless world....hmmm....
  • Credits to wikipedia (foie gras)
  • I don't need an encyclopedia, everyone is wiser now with 'google'. We don't think much now nor do we remember to retain most of what we learn...for everything else, there's "google". The most comprehensive search. Also, no arguments on who is right or wrong, google search, find the answer....and END OF ARGUMENT!
  • Credits to Google.
So, am I living in the wrong era? For me, this 5 decades have been a series of learning and relearning. Is it difficult, yes at times but if its for the better, why not? Do I like all the advancement & progress in life? Yes and No...well, that would be another story yet to be told.

Until then,....I love living and I am ever so positive. Even if you place me in Victorian era, like my fellow biker friend and blog reader Sam says "U can cook out something from little things" I'll find something interesting to say / cook up...so LET'S LIVE LIFE! There's no wrong or right era...just how you choose to live it! "Hakuna Matata".

HING LOONG Taiwan Mee & Durian Cake, Melaka 15 Aug 2012

Rocker57 was deadbeat after returning late from a day's trip to & fro East Malaysia, so I offered to chauffeur drive him to Melaka & back the following day for his business trip. Left Subang at 7.10am, arrived at Bachang, Melaka at 8.40am for breakfast.

So, why are we here? What's special? It's Melaka's famous Hing Loong Taiwan Mee, of course! I've not been to Taiwan nor have I eaten Taiwanese food in Malaysia yet, so this is as best as it gets. Rocker57 and I have eaten in Hing Loong many times over 2 decades and more and we always come back when the urge kicks in.
Hing Loong Taiwan Mee
This corner shoplot opens for business from 7.30am to 5pm or so the signage says. The special noodle & deep fried pork/beef chops used to be cooked by the Taiwanese lady and then her sons but today, we were served by foreigners. A now normal & sad scene across many famous eateries throughout Malaysia...why sad you say? It's because many has no successors and if this trend continues, a lot of good tasting authentic food will be lost in history. And new generations will not be able to savour all these good food ever. As that was going through my mind, viola! The Taiwanese lady came in and smiled at me. She has mellowed somewhat over the years. Those days she used to be grouchy and shouts over the hot stove (I don't blame her really, I would too...so hot and business bustling). Now, she takes time to smile to her patrons.  And time for her to take her well deserved break.
My bowl of Taiwan Mee, Pork ribs, soup & sambal chili

The Proprietor relaxing with his daily paper.
The noodle still tastes the same. The crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside fried pork chop is tasty to the last bite. Nothing has changed because SHE is there to supervise :)  The noodle is simple but it is the chili complement and the fabulous specially marinated fried pork chop that brings the entire meal to a 'high'. Two bowls of that and two glasses of home-made soya bean milk and we are happily sated. Check out Hing Loong Taiwan Mee at 11J, Jalan Bachang, Melaka.

After over 4 hours hibernating somewhere while Rocker57 go about his day, I finally received the call that we are done for the day. Yippeee....I almost dozed off while waiting. Hadn't had good sleep for few days now....the lack of hours in sleep i.e.
As a souvenir for waiting, I was offered tea & cakes. Nadeje again??? Oh no...we will try something different today. We headed to Durian Cake at 27 Jalan Inang 2, Taman Paya Rumput Utama, Melaka. Tel # : 06 - 336 7888 (beside/behind Tesco) As you exit Tesco, just look to your left, one cannot miss the huge signage in GREEN!!!

On our previous visit to Tesco, we have tested the durian puffs so this time we wanted to try the cake.
The signage as you step into Durian cake shop

Depicting it's shop's name...the Durian cake

The durian puffs we tried some time ago

The durian chiffon cupcake
We ate the durian chiffon cupcake and the durian cake. As always, Rocker57 must have his cuppa, but be forewarned, it is not freshly made but from a Nestle dispenser. I had my Angry Bird RO water.

Suggest you not drink this water as it has no nutrition list nor has it the manufacturer's details. Can't recall if there is any expiration date either.
Anyway, back to the cake. The cake was just another cake, to me that is. It has the durian look but lacks the durian cream flavour and 'kick'. Also, not creamy enough to taste the durian cream, more cake then cream...so its just a cake, really.

On the other hand, the durian chiffon cupcake or to me similar to the now in trend 'Hokkaido cake' was a 'thumbs up' for me. The durian cream inside the chiffon cake was ample and it oozes out as you take your bite. The aroma....oooh...intoxicating unlike the cake. I love it hence I packed some home for my son & us. I had one today but it is best consumed when fresh as the chiffon hardens a tad after a day. But, it is still delicious. My son liked it too :)

On the way home, I was so sleepy I had to literally slap myself from sleeping. But stubbornly hung on till Dengkil R&R, then only I handed over the wheels to Rocker57. I had no choice OK!!!...he rarely allows me to drive his Passat...so since he gave the green light...it was Whoooosh...on drive! Turbo engine mahhh....must push the pedals right???  But, but....psst...there was the constant 'nagging' of 'hey, watch the pedals...its festive time...lots of speed traps'....sigh...I guess I know now that the constant speed of 110kph was the culprit behind my sleepiness....aaaahhhhh "R we there yet???"

Blurp....oooohhh "open the windows, quick"....the after effect of durian chiffon cupcake reeks the entire car!! Ooopss.....and we had our fair share of burping!! Hahahaha, until I blog soon, take care and remember to live life full & stay happy always! Ta-ta.

Weekend Biker's "Widow"

stock photo : black widow Most Sundays I am a biker's "widow", a name I coined for myself...hehehe....am left all alone by Rocker57 while he Vrooom vrooom away with his biking buddies and the kids snoozing in bed. A 'widow' for few hours is still a 'widow'...no? Oh well...oh well.....On certain occasions, I get "invited" to ride with him and yet on other occasions we ride solo for our regular "cuti cuti Malaysia" (local vacation on our bike). This time around, we are bringing the kids...YAY!!!
Since this weekend is a long stretch of holiday, why not check out www.cuticuti-Malaysia.com for more info.

So how do I spend my time when he's biking without me?

For over 2 years now ~ I blog, I FB, I read & occasionally I do some ironing. Most of the time, its the first two I do a lot. Occasionally, I arrange for brekkie with the kids/ friends. The few hours passes by quickly. Sometimes, he returns home to lunch with me & at other times, he eats with his biker friends before returning home.
Riding is a form of 'relaxation' for him and frees his mind from work stress. I think it's healthy to let him indulge in his 'personal time'. But what will happen when he retires and spends more time vrrrrooooming away? Hmmmm....have not seriously thought of it. Perhaps I may :
  • start a Mahjong session!! PRO ~ HAH, that way I can keep my grey matter active, do some 'bitching' & gossiping (well, isn't it true that is what most women do when they group together, NO? oh.....hmmm), get to binge on cheese cakes, puffs & drink coffee not forgetting winning lots of $$$$. CON ~ may lose some money, tiring for the poor back if session is too long and if the winnings are too good, cannot STOP!!!.And due to all the bitching and gossiping....No more Mahjong friends and other friends!!! Hmmmm.....
  • start a bridge club!! PRO ~ same as above. CON ~ I don't know how to play it and I don't know friends who play it. Hmmm...perhaps I can initiate it, eh?
  • Start a Ladies Beemer Cruise Escapade Club!!! PRO ~ get to know more friends & get to find more places to eat. YES! Eat! I live to eat just in case you didn't know...that's why I always carry extra baggages...(errr around my waist of course! DUH!!!) CON ~ burn fuel & not eco-friendly. Then my kids will be "Biker/driver "orphans"!!! OOooh...that's double cruelty. But then again....let's be honest, very often I am an 'abused mom'....Naaaah...they don't abuse me....they leave me alone....all by myself...or should I rename it "Orphanage MOM"???
  • start to cook again!!! PRO ~ can entice Rocker57 to return home for lunch. Coming home to home-cooked food, healthy and yummylicious. CON ~ so much work to handle alone and spending hours in the kitchen and then in 10 minutes; food is gone then all the washing and cleaning.....Naaahh....can happen but occasionally...simply put...am a lazy pig and I don't want Rocker57 to print this out and hold me at ransom!
  • Tai Chi session??? Love all the slow choreograph movements.....so elegant and sophisticated. That I will try when am much older, for now I will stick to swimming and my routine work out. Also, my rough & stumpy moves may move the earth's axis...who knows?!?!?...so...this shall have to wait....
  •
  •  woman in white suit make's taiji chuan exercise Stock Photo - 4892439
  • Dancing??? That we tried back in 2009. Wrong choice!! I choose Salsa, a social dance and my other half....Anti-social...how then to change partners???? Sigh...no chance to get to dance with those latin hunks....so so sexy man.....*drooling already thinking of those sensual moves*....nowadays, I bring my bibs whenever I go clubbing in Salsa clubs.....*for the drools, duh!* One more thing....I forgot to mention...those twists and turns....well when Rocker57 initiate the turn...I just can't stop and then I feel giddy...so...need to think of ball room dancing instead....BUT those twirling might send me off the hall....so, I'll need to weigh the pros & cons first.
  •
  • Reading club perhaps? Naahhhh....I love to read alone. Reading out loud with mispronunciation and those annoying nasal voices irritates me!!! Ooh...you mean its book club and not reading club...hehhehe...my bad! I'm what Malaysians call "loyar buruk" or 'half-cooked lawyer"...I think the club will close in no time as I will argue until cows come home or unless I see red...a red face I mean & not blood like you are thinking; then only will I stop arguing my point across. With that also, leaves me with no friends for old age....hmmmm.....
  • *scratching head*.....so now, what should I do?
So...what should I do? Any suggestions from you dear readers? I welcome suggestions....

Until my next blog....widow or no widow...it beats seating at the window looking gloomily outside...so take time to read and laugh at my other blogs...
