Restaurant Sinki, Dengkil - 2 Nov 2013

Hey....what is this? There is no food??? The aftermath is my teaser....hehehe...you liked it?
So, what can 12 gentle ladies do? EAT! EAT! EAT! and laugh very LOUD!!! Yup, that is my foodie buddies.

From left (standing): TK /Theresa / Veronica
From left (seated) : Tracy/Jacky/Felicia/Carrie/Irene/Philo/Rowena and Jessie.

Carrie was the one who recommended this venue. I was the food and transport coordinator. On 2 Nov, 2 cars headed from Seremban to Dengkil while another 2 cars from Subang Jaya and Puchong headed the same destination.

The welcoming 'reserved' table for a dozen of hungry hogs!!

First order of the day after the group congregated :
House specialty spring rolls. The springroll skin was crunchy while the well marinated filling tantalizes the entire dish. After we 'attacked' the dish, the remnant was only the chili sauce. So, was it good? Go figure!

Next, steam fishball and soya bean cake (taufu /tofu) with romaine lettuce as base and fried shallots and spring onions for garnishing:

The tofu was softer and smoother than a baby's buttocks. The fishball was pure fish meat and not so much of flour...toing toing toing...pop it goes into our salivating mouth. The tofu needs no biting, just swallow and it will glide in. Are you salivating yet? No? Well, hang on...more to come.

Restaurant house specialty or signature dish or whatever you wanna call it...steamed free range chicken with soy sauce. Simple yet delectable. Scroll up to see if there is any left over? Hehehehe....

Followed by Sabah 'see chai choy". A kind of veggy that grows in the wild in East Malaysia's state of Sabah. Sauted in dried shrimp, bird's eye chili and red chili for garnishing and color.

And then, the fish entry. Although it was fried, the skin was crunchy and the meat oh so tender and succulent. Sauce is 'Cheong Cheng' or minced bean paste with minced garlic and to add oomph to it, a combination of bird's eye chili and red chili and of course spring onions to add color to the dish. Verdict? Please refer to first photo for aftermath on devouring this creature from the sea.

And then we had a grand entry when everyone went "WAAAAAHHHH"...Huh? What is so grand? Crabs? Nope! It's this :
WOW!!! Did you see the size of the prawns' heads???? Use the fork as comparison. It is bigger than any of the ladies' thumb!!! Taste : "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". Even one of them who don't normally take prawns decided to dug in and worry about allergy later on! Needless to say, no left over except empty shells. You see, we always do justice to good food, wouldn't you?

And then, we had clams or what we locals call "la la" cooked in the restaurant's chef style. You get these flavours : dried chili, green bell pepper, carrot, dark soya sauce and a dash of oyster sauce to enhance flavour.

For the finale, we had pork trotters. It was good but the one in Sin Leong Huat still top the chart for many of us.

Yes, satiated and booming the entire restaurant with our incessant laughter and bantering, we paid our dues. About RM53 each. Everyone gladly paid and commented that it was well worth the journey and effort. Are we done?

Of course NOT! Those who have been following my blog would know that my foodie buddies will not go home until we are all bursting in our seams. So how can today be any different? Next stop, take away for pau/pao/ dumplings.

Apparently, the dumpling shop which originally was next door to Restoran Sinki...yes, we ate our hearty meal at

Kedai Makanan Sinki
96 Jalan Besar,
43800 Dengkil
Tel : +603 - 8768 8268
Mobile : +6012 266 7161

Incidentally, they have limited 3 tables in an air-conditioned room, so please make your reservations. How to get there? Simple. Head to Dengkil. Look out for the police station. Sinki is about 4-5 doors away from the police station (same side). Happy finding!!!

By the way, we all adjourned to pack pau/pao for our loved ones here :

Verdict : nothing spectacular but not too bad. Kah Heong is situated in one of the intermediate shoplots behind KFC. It is on the right as you turn in from the traffic light junction..just 100 meters from the traffic light (not visible from the main road).

After the food 'ordeal', we headed to Shaftbury Square in Cyberjaya, a mere 10 mins drive from Dengkil for coffee. We 'chillaxed' at Starbucks until almost 5pm.

And what do we have to say of the entire day's 'expedition'??? A picture tells a thousand words. I rest my case.
I am always in search for food. Do drop me a line if you have any to recommend, thanks!!

Until next time....
