Emperor's Dinner, HUNG LOY Restaurant - Pertang.

What is this? Read on to find out.

Fried piglet's front toes!!! So so Good!
Hi, did you missed me? Honestly, I missed myself for not blogging too :)

I need a certain 'mood' and 'momentum' to be able to pen whatever that is in my mind. For the past two months, my mind was on other stuffs, hence blogging took to the sidelines. My apologies if you have missed me. I can sort of feel the 'moooooood' coming back, so you will be able to enjoy & read more of my nonsensical & crappy blogs!!! Hehehehe....

Federal Territory day - 1 Feb 2013 will be a day I will remember for a long long time. Why? Let me tell you why....read on.

8 crazy food fetish 'food searching souls' in 2 separate cars from KL/PJ with one pick-up in Senawang drove some 150km (one way) to a small quaint town called Pertang in Negeri Sembilan. All 51 years of me have only known Simpang Pertang. Never knew there was a Pertang until a week before 1 Feb!!! By the way, Pertang is about 7km from Simpang Pertang. Can you imagine that? If there is any consolation, my friends all of whom are also from Negeri Sembilan shared the same thought too. This is a typical case of the blind leading the blind.

Anyway back to the story... I had to first pre-order the food in collaboration with the chef Ah Sang, himself. Few rounds of discussion later on the menu, it finally led us to dine like Empresses on what we all called an "Emperor's meal". All in all, we had 8 dishes for 8 gorgeous tired and very hungry ladies!

TK, Mag, Jessie & her daughter Ellisha
The name of the restaurant is Hung Loy. You can't missed it, just next to the Pertang police station! Now, how safe can a restaurant be? Its an open air restaurant and it's only open for business from 5pm onwards. Notice that our table is different from others? It has a red table cloth specially reserved for us. The only one with red table cloth, mind you!

 Now, let get to the glorious food. First to be served....

Strange looking thing but so delectable! We had 3 of these. And what is it? It's fish & taufoo cooked in coconut! Ewww...must be fishy, you say. WRONG! It tasted like crab meat, serious! The 3 coconuts were emptied in a jiffy!
Next :
Splendidly cooked Sea Cucumber fish in special gravy. The skin was jelly-like; embodied with loads Omega 3 & 6 that we could instantly feel our faces and skin going "toing toing" honestly...scouts honour! We were all "Awww-ing & wah-ing" when the next dish appeared....More Awwsss and Aaaahhhss...

Tendons cooked to perfection. Melts in the mouth and oh so so flavourful. I've never eaten tendons that were so well cooked. The tendons were bigger than the size of our thumbs!!  and... we had lots & lots of them!!! Yummy with a huge Capital Y! Next please?

Incidentally, you might be wondering why the OOOhhhs and Aaahhhs when I had pre-ordered a week earlier? Well...at my age and with a goldfish memory (3 seconds)...and dishes mentioned in Chinese.....oh well...you get my drift as to why I was also Ooohhing and Aaahing away with them.

  The best tasting Fish maw I've ever eaten. If I were to repeat that it was cooked to perfection, you might think I am bias. But 7 other people concuring can't be that wrong right? Apart from Ellisha & Rowena, the rest of us cook and we know a good dish when we taste one, so PLUZZZZ take my word for it that it was.... spectacular!

I remember this dish very well. Well, I did say 6 people cook, right? Well, we ALL couldn't distinguish if it was lobster, mantis or tiger prawns. But, I insisted it to be lobster.... really. Its for sure NOT mantis prawns because I know one when I see one, duh! We were all too embarrass/shy to ask our Chef Ah Sang. Hey...check the bill-lah to know what it is....errr hellooo...we ALL don't read Chinese!!! Hehehe... And oh...the hot buns goes well with the great serving of sweet & sour gravy....I am salivating just recalling this dish....OOOOoooo

Here's a closed-up shot. Can you tell me what it is?

This is a dish I've NEVER ever eaten before, and neither did my friends. Prawns fried with peony petals, yam & carrot. It was swiftly eaten with only decorative cucumbers arraying the plate! Was it good? You go figure it out...

The final dish apart from the crispy and well marinated piglet toes was fried pumpkin with duck egg yolk. It was unique, tasty and very addictive! Need I say more?? Honestly, we had to request for help to finish off the last 4 pieces simply because we were all FULL to the MAX!!!!

All these plus drinks for only RM456! A steal you say? It would be an understatement of the year... it was ultra reasonable! If only you were there to witness those huge servings. We all concur it was VERY well worth the trip.

My 51st birthday poem

Today, I am half a century+1;
I know for sure I look better than I was when I was Forty+1;
Am definitely fitter and healthier than I was at Thirty+1;
But alas! Am about 20lbs heavier than I was at Twenty+1!

For 5 years now, no more office enemies or political colleagues to face during working days;
Not working anymore, so I have lesser back-stabbers day after day;
Now, I feel happy whenever I come "face-to-face" with my friends on FB everyday!
I now spend my time staying happy & counting my blessings everyday;

I may not have riches but I have good health, love, joy & happiness;
I may not have everything but am blessed I have shelter, food, clothings & blissfulness;
I may not be your perfect friend, but I do have a loving, caring heart that lasts and lasts;
I may be eclectic, nutty and aloft, but I always mean well & just want everyone to have a blast.

50+1 years of life's trials & tribulations I have faced;
Don't think there is much I now cannot face,
I thank my enemies, friends, & family for everything that has happened in my life today;
For every word & action has turned me into what I am today;

I look forward to many more happy, joyful and healthy years ahead;
Hope Alzheimer & dementia will not come and 'attack' my head;
If that dreadful sickness should come pay me a 'visit'
I know for sure, "That's it, I've had it!"

But having this poem in mind; (that is if I still remember by then)
I know I have lived life in my heart, soul and mind
Being 51 is just the beginning of many more fun, happy things to come
Bring it on, pile it up! Am ready for another 51 happy years to come!!!

Happy Happy Birthday, Sherine!

U have lived a fruitful & blessed life.

Stay Happy and live life full! Have a happy 50+1!!!

YYYaaaaaYYYY!!!
