Kim's Seafood Palace, Port Dickson - 7 Sept 2013

What is Malaysian's favourite past time? Eating, of course! We can eat 24/7! Therefore, 7 Sept 2013 was no exception. My foodie buddies and I headed down south to Port Dickson; Negeri Sembilan (approximately 100km from Kuala Lumpur) for some yummylicious good food and our bi-monthly bonding session.

Thanks to foodie buddy Felicia Ng, we made reservations at :

Restoran Kim's Seafood Palace

26 Persiaran Water Front
PD Water Front

Port Dickson

Opens daily
** No pork served**

First dish was 4 seasons (see picture above). It was quite good, perhaps we were very hungry as service was slow...hehehe.... In reality, I can't describe the 4 variants...Kah Kah Kah!! I liked the plate's unique shape and design though.

Next, we had this gorgeous steamed fish in soy sauce, cooked to perfection. The meat was tender, juicy and flaky. The slightly salted soy sauce added just the right flavour to the fresh steamed fish. Errr...please don't ask me what fish OK? All fish look alike to me....Yup, I am hopeless! Agreed!

Can you tell what fish this is?
The fish was very quickly consumed. You see, our foodies know good stuff when they see one. Most are chefs in their own home and you can bet they know good food when they have tasted one. Period.

Subsequently, we had chicken cooked in two variant. The bottom layer, chicken was deep fried & cooked in spicy sweet sour sauce. The coating was crunchy while the meat was succulent & well marinated. It was delectable and appetizing. The top layer was a nice blend of chicken and fish paste "glued" together. This was also tasty. It goes well with the bed of condiments i.e. spicy and tangy sliced Bombay onions & red chili underneath the chicken and fish paste pancake or eaten by itself.

What's next? Oh...by the way, we also had wine to accompany us, compliments from another foodie Tracy Tang. Thank you Felicia for the selecting this venue and Tracy for the 'fermented grape juice' C>H>E>E>R>S!!!!

Finger licking prawns was next. It was quite fresh, spicy, sweet, and savoury. The shell was crunchy but the flesh was juicy, succulent and full flavoured. Goes well with our red wine....YUMMY.

How can we miss the greens, right? Well, this is a combi of lotus root, snow peas, celery, slices of abalone, carrots and garnished with almonds. It was soooo good, I never got the chance to even taste it!!! Yup, it was THAT GOOD! Psst...come closer. I think my foodies buddies are REALLY hungry or the food was so good that they forgot I was amongst them! Hehehehe....

With the vegy downed within minutes, we waiting patiently for theeeeeee......

CRABS!! Cooked in salted egg yolk, garlic, bird's eye chili and curry leaf...it was really good. It was so good, some of us licked the shell sparkling clean! Yup, it is gross but with good food...who cares!

Are we done? How many people were there...how come so much food???? Nope. We aren't done yet. Next, lotus glutinous rice.

It was aromatic but not over bearing despite the generous serving of big-sized oysters. The glutinous rice was really full-bodied with a taste of all the ingredients particularly the oyster flavour. You also get to taste the dried shrimp (udang kering). The rice was not too sticky nor too soft. Even I who was cutting down on carbohydrates couldn't resist taking a small second helping.*thumbs up*

Finally, we have gotta have dessert. And what was it? Two variant of Mochi; Japanese rice cake, made from glutionuos rice with sweetened crushed peanut fillings or lotus paste. Frankly, I've forgotten what the filling was...it was two months back, OK? Memory failing faster than I can blog...sigh. Sign of ageing. Good. Shows that I am wiser too.

Hehehe...either way, I know for sure it was good simply because there was no left over.

Curious to know how many gluttons? Take a count :)

Is it a somewhat complete full course Chinese meal without dessert or "Tong Sui"? Of course not!. We had a refreshing sea coconut with iced almond dessert "tong sui". No picture taken, unfortunately. Why? Because I was busy eating and licking the crab, duh!

Great! Meal done. What next? Wait...who ate all these? AHA! You thought I forgot...nope, saving the best for last. Ta-da...the hungry babes!!

The damage? RM80 per person inclusive of the birthday cake (Double chocolate mille crepe cake) because birthday girl gets to eat for free ^_^

Next...Tea-time! Walk 50 steps, you get a good spread of local food eateries. We chose this to "chillax" and send 'earthquake' to this small eatery. We had our Cendol drink here. Our second dessert in under 20 mins. Boy oh boy....we surely can eat and eat and eat.

Picture featured below of cendol credits to VKeong.com. Why? Because I was too busy catching up with the gurls I'd forgotten to take a snap shot of it. Ta-da...MUA the 'forgetful blogger'

So, Superbiker48, cut to the chase.....where can we get this? Here, see pix below :

Say 'hello' to my happy foodies - again! We nearly brought the house down with our incessant laughter and non-stop chattering. Most importantly, we bonded and had delicious food.

Until the next food trail....do you EAT to Live or Live to EAT??? Whatever it is......

Am drooling looking at the great seafood dishes. The crab sounds wonderful.
Was the restaurant on the seafront?
Glad you had a great time; friends, great food and fresh sea air.
